Fellow Members,
As a nurse with 29 years of experience in mental health, including the last 21 years at the SSC, I believe it is important that our reality be recognized. The role of the nursing staff remains paramount, whether they’re working in an institution or in the community. Every Region’s situation must be clearly exposed in order to get the recognition that we deserve given the great shortage of nurses in these difficult times. It is one thing to be recognized, but it is another to be treated fairly as health care professionals. It is therefore important that some of us get involved to allow everyone to express themselves, to be heard and especially to be well represented.
It is also essential to have our professional autonomy recognized and to allow for its development.
I am confident that I will be able to represent the NU group well enough to enable the advancement of our professional practice while ensuring that our conditions are improved.
