CFIA-VM Bargaining Update – Signing of Collective Agreement – August 2018
Following the ratification of the tentative agreement, we’ve been working hard over the summer to finalize your contract. The CFIA during this time had to obtain Governor in Council (Cabinet) approval, followed by translation and thorough review of the text by both parties.
Your bargaining Team is pleased to inform you that CFIA and PIPSC signed the new collective agreement on August 8, 2018. The employer has 120 days from August 8, 2018 to pay your retroactivity. Remember that the retroactivity is based on the economic increases that should have been paid to you on October 1st, 2014 (1.25%), October 1st, 2015 (1.25%), October 1st 2016 (2.25%), and October 1st 2017 (1.25%) had the collective agreement been signed in 2014.
The Meat Hygiene Allowance (MHA) provision ends as of September 1st, 2018. Retroactivity of 4% increase to salaries of VM01 and VM02 based upon removal of the MHA would begin on September 1st, 2018.
We are currently working with the employer to get specifics of the implementation and will keep you informed when we have developments.
Enjoy the rest of your summer,
Your Bargaining Team
