AV - Professionalism Committee Report May 2018

Committee members:

Peter Gabriel – Chair

Jacques Laperriere – Quebec Regional Representative

Andrew Wigmore –Member at Large

Margaret Bigras – National Capital Region Representative

Ray Paquette – President

Goal:

10.5 Professionalism Committee The Group Executive may appoint a Professionalism Committee to represent members of the AV Group in all forums, addressing professional accreditation and representation.

This past year, we went out and asked our members via email what professional association they belong to.

Here are the associations:

Supply Chain Management Association of Canada

Canadian Institute of Professional Material Management

Economic Developers Association of Manitoba

Certified International Trade Professional

Project Management Institute

Chartered Professional Accountants

Chartered Institute of Purchasing

In the coming year, we plan to engage these associations and develop a strategy and action plan going forward regarding how we can use our member’s accreditation to our mutual benefit in negotiations with the Treasury Board of Canada.

This will be a challenge as Treasury Board is always looking to reduce labour costs. We will have to outline and propose the benefits to having accredited professionals in the workplace.

The new executive after June 1st, 2018 will be reviewing this committee mandate going forward.

In solidarity,

Peter Gabriel - Chair
