April Coulson – Candidate for Member-at-Large | BCFHNA Group Executive 2026 Election

I am a mother, sister, daughter, and grandmother and a Tr'ondëk Hwëch'in/Han Nation citizen, with English and Polish settler ancestry.

My family and I are grateful to be guests on the unceded and traditional lands of the Syilx Okanagan people, where we have lived for the past 13 years. I live and raise my family on these lands, and I recognize this land as a living relative, one that holds stories, teachings, and responsibilities.

The foundation of my practice is connection, relationships, vulnerability, truth, respect, and openness.

I have worked as a Registered Nurse for 11 years, with experience in acute care, residential care, and home and community care. I am grateful and humbled to have served a First Nations community as a Home Care Nurse where the gifts of connection, love, and reciprocity continue to guide my personal and professional growth.

I now work alongside First Nations community nurses and FNHA programs as a Home Health Practice Consultant, and my time as an Occupational Health Nurse has added a valuable lens of staff wellness and support to my practice. I am also grateful and honoured to walk alongside students at UBC Okanagan as an Adjunct Professor in the School of Health and Exercise Sciences, where I am able to nurture my passion for education and mentorship.

I am putting my name forward for the PIPSC Member at Large role because I believe in collaborative leadership, transparency, and creating a workplace grounded in integrity and belonging. My practice has always centred on relationships, advocacy, and ensuring people feel seen, heard, and supported.

A core value I bring to this role is recognizing lived experience as a vital source of wisdom. Our members carry diverse histories, strengths, and challenges, and I believe these experiences should guide how we support one another and how we shape our collective direction.

I would be honoured to serve in a way that reflects our shared values and responsibilities to one another.
