Christine McDowell

I am a Nurse Practitioner with diverse experience in primary care, acute care, and remote and underserved settings. I currently work with Indigenous Services Canada in the North, where I provide comprehensive, patient-centred care and advocate for equitable access to health services in complex and resource-limited environments. For the past six years, I have served as a Nurse Practitioner representative first as a nurse rep and then as nurse practitioner, working to ensure members’ voices are heard on issues such as scope of practice, workload sustainability, professional recognition, and fair compensation. This experience has given me a strong understanding of the challenges facing nurse practitioners in the federal public service and the importance of effective, informed representation. As a former member of the Canadian Armed Forces, I bring a leadership style grounded in service, accountability, and collaboration. I am seeking election to the PIPSC Health Executive Board to continue advocating for nurse practitioners, strengthen member engagement, and contribute to policies that support safe practice, professional growth, and high-quality care for the communities we serve.
