Joyce Garofolo for Member-at-Large

Hi, I’m Joyce Garofalo, and I’d truly appreciate your support in my run for the CFIA-Scientific and Analytical (S&A) National Group Executive Member-at-Large position.

I’ve been a proud PIPSC CFIA-S&A steward since the mid-2000s.  My focus has always been on supporting members with listening, guiding, encouraging, and advocating.  I’ve built and led S&A sub-groups in Toronto, Hamilton, and Guelph, and have served as president in each region.  Since 2018, I’ve continued this leadership in Guelph, fostering a supportive local union presence.  I also contribute to the CFIA-Ontario Guelph-Kitchener Branch as their secretary.

Whether it’s interpreting our collective agreement, navigating complex workplace issues, or brainstorming next steps, I’m here to help.  I’ve assisted members with harassment complaints, grievances, and accommodations, and I work closely with our Employment Relations Officer and fellow stewards to ensure you get the guidance and support you need.

I’ve represented members at the Ontario Central and Southwest Regional and Area levels for many years, and have brought your concerns forward and working to find solutions at the table and behind the scenes.

I’m passionate about protecting the standards of our food inspection profession and strengthening our collective voice.  

If elected, I will bring my experience, support, dedication, and collaborative spirit to the CFIA-S&A National Group Executive Team.  I’m also committed to expanding my skills and deepening my understanding in this Member-at-Large role, so I can better serve you all and contribute meaningfully to the work of our executive.
