David Chen for Member-at-Large

My name is David Chen, a Senior Inspector with the Calgary Food Safety group. I immigrated from China 25 years ago and became a Canadian citizen in 2010. I graduated with two B.Sc. degrees, one in Computer Science from the University of Saskatchewan and one in Nutrition and Food Science from the University of Alberta. I am the father of an 8-year old boy. I have been working with the public service for 18 years, serving as a PSAC steward for one year and a PIPSC steward for 11 years. In addition to my responsibilities as a steward, I also served for one year on the PIPSC Prairie Youth Committee and I am currently on the PIPSC Calgary branch executive serving as a member-at-large since 2017. In this time, I have helped many PIPSC members and have been willing to raise issues of concern to members of the PIPSC S&A group. I encourage debate amongst members to ensure that all people have the opportunity to be heard. I am a friendly and approachable person with a passion and commitment to move our union forward.  I care about what members-at-large can do for the union and its members.  I thank you in advance for considering me.
