Terri D'Souza for Member-at-Large
I joined CFIA in 2016 and have worked in NS as a lab analyst, ON as a slaughter inspector, and BC as a lab analyst before becoming indeterminate. I currently work for an Ottawa team, writing reports for CFIA that are tabled in Parliament.
I was previously active with PSAC, serving as the Young Workers’ Coordinator on the BC Regional Executive, Vice-President of my local, a steward, and on the CFIA bargaining team.
I became a PIPSC member in 2022 and a few months later, was elected to the BC-Y Regional Executive and selected to serve on the Young Professionals Committee Executive. I organized the AGM and elections for the Fraser Valley Branch, revitalizing the Branch after a year of inactivity. As President since 2023, I have organized numerous well-attended events and the Branch is again thriving. In 2024, I was appointed BC/Y representative on the National Science Advisory Committee where I work to address issues affecting PIPSC science members nationwide, and was selected for a 2nd term earlier this year.
My CFIA journey, combined with my PSAC and PIPSC Executive experience and CFIA steward experience, positions me as a strong candidate for Member-at-Large. As a young worker, woman of color, and having been a term employee for 5 years, I bring a unique perspective and understanding of our members' concerns. I am eager to contribute to the S&A executive, have the skills and dependability to be an active member, and will use my experience to better serve our members.
