Stan Buday

Stan BudayI am honoured to have served the IT Group, its stewards and members during my tenure as President. I believe that in that time I have demonstrated my leadership and dedication to the interests of our members and to the underlying principles that define what it is to be a union.

However, I also believe it is time for someone else to step into that role and I am now seeking your support to continue serving on our national executive as a Member-at-large.

I feel that the new Group President will benefit from my extensive experience during this transition. I will remain a valuable resource providing support and information. I will facilitate maintaining and building the relationships I have developed within our union over the past years.

Recently, I have reassumed the role of the Group’s National Organizing Committee President. We will need to be more united than ever and my goal is to reenergize our efforts, not only in support of negotiations but in engaging our members through multiple ways and avenues.

My work on your behalf:

  • Negotiated ground-breaking new language on contracting out, technological change, a multi-million dollar training fund and long awaited pay parity
  • Challenged departments’ use of contractors as a member of the Contracting Out Action Team
  • Organized member bargaining support
  • Consultation with departments most recently as the co-chair of the Interdepartmental Joint Consultation Committee
  • Continued to defend your rights and fight the employer’s abusive direction to return to the office
  • Lobbied for action on Group concerns with MPs
  • Coordinated our efforts in bargaining with other Institute Groups

Experience:

  • 12 years CS-IT Group President
  • 6 years CS-IT Group National Vice President
  • Member, CS-IT Group Bargaining Teams
  • Member, PIPSC Strategic Bargaining Committee
  • 22 years member of CS-IT Group National Executive
  • 8 years CS-IT Group National Organizing Committee Chair
  • Recipient of:
    • 2006 Ontario Region Steward of the Year
    • 2023 PIPSC Lifetime Membership
    • 2023 Ontario Region Glenn Maxwell Executive of the Year Award
  • 25 years member and 11 years President, ESDC National Consultation Team
  • Founding President Greater Toronto Area Branch
  • 25 years PIPSC Steward

My goal over the next term is to:

  • Support the transition of a new Group President
  • Recharging and refocusing the National Organizing Committee to engage, educate and mobilize our members in new and creative ways
  • Bring my experience with Workforce Adjustment to bear in support of our members
  • Follow our strategic plan to combat outsourcing including broadcasting its negative impact on the quality of services to Canadians
  • Fight for fair wages and better working conditions
  • Defend our existing collective agreement language
  • Make full use of our new training fund

Thank you for your continued support. I hope that I can rely on your vote to re-elect me as a member of the National Executive.

In solidarity,

Stan Buday
