IT Training Fund and Navigar

Introducing the Navigar Learning Platform

In your current collective agreement, we accepted a $4.725 million training fund offer from the Treasury Board. With over 20,000 members, the challenge was making that fund available and accessible to all IT members everywhere in a meaningful way.

We are pleased to announce that we have worked with PIPSC to implement an ideal learning platform solution. Navigar is a web app that combines expert data on the future of work, and the labour market expertise of PIPSC, with your job knowledge and career goals. It helps you create a personalized training plan based on your current skills to find the courses you need to advance in your career.

Navigar is also a direct response to the Treasury Board’s ongoing use of outside contractors. It gives our members the tools and training they need to mitigate this practice. The Treasury Board has emphasized that this training is meant to augment and not replace departmental training obligations.

Starting in September, the IT Group will have free and unlimited access to Navigar. This platform offers effective, self-paced training on topics ranging from AI and Azure to Security Architecture and Virtualization.

Here’s the training rollout schedule:

As you gain new skills, Navigar stays with you, tracking your success to create a customized training record you can use throughout your career. Your invitation to Navigar will be sent to you by email in mid-September.

We will be the first group in PIPSC to use the Navigar web app, and we are excited to see what you all do with it.
