Happy new year!
On January 9 and 10, your bargaining team met with the employer to discuss their respective proposals.
The union’s proposal is available online now in both official languages. The union’s proposal is informed by our membership’s survey responses, responses to an earlier PIPSC-wide survey, and many months of research conducted by PIPSC employees and your bargaining team. Based on the responses from the OSFI Group survey, we have selected binding arbitration as the dispute resolution method.
We know there is a heightened interest in negotiations following the December 2022 announcement on hybrid work from Treasury Board President Mona Fortier. PIPSC is demanding a halt to the government’s punitive return to workplace plans. PIPSC is seeking to negotiate improved collective agreement provisions to provide members with greater access to telework and remote work options, as a central bargaining issue. For its part, your bargaining team has reserved the right to introduce language on telework at a later point in the bargaining process and we will fight to satisfy the preferences outlined by our membership in the surveys.
Our next meetings with the employer are scheduled for February.
We would also like to ask that if you have any questions about this process or any concerns that you reach out to us at osfi_grp_barg_team@pipsc.ca. You can also follow the OSFI group on Twitter. A bargaining report will also be provided at the OSFI Virtual Annual General Meeting, on February 1 at noon. You should receive an invitation to this meeting by email.
In solidarity,
The OSFI Group bargaining team
