Nathaniel Cziranka-Crooks
(Translated from French)
My name is Nathaniel Cziranka-Crooks, and I’ve been part of the NR Group at PIPSC since joining the Canadian Space Agency as an engineer in 2017. I became more interested in the union in 2019, at the Young Workers Forum, where I exchanged views with my peers and leaders on their vision of the union’s future. However, it was last year’s PIPSC AGM that really opened my eyes. What should have been a key event for our union has instead raised concerns about its overall health and strength. This experience prompted my decision to run for this position.
Union challenges are complex, and there are no quick fixes. But I believe that when members are actively engaged, these challenges become much easier to manage. If apathy is hard to overcome, transparency and open communication have never been easier to achieve in today’s connected world. By focusing on these principles, members can become more involved, feel valued, and be an integral part of the decisions and directions we take as a subgroup and as a union.
