Michael Simard - Biography

As your dedicated union president for over 15 years, I am running for Vice President to continue supporting our membership through the critical transition of new leadership. My extensive experience as Union President, coupled with my 23 years as a steward, equips me with the knowledge and skills to help guide and mentor incoming leaders, ensuring a smooth and effective leadership transition.

Throughout my tenure, I have served as the Consultation Team President, working closely with management and stakeholders to foster productive relationships and secure better outcomes for our members. I’ve built strong relationships with all key stakeholders—management, members, and external organizations—which I will leverage to benefit the union’s future.

My 23+ years as a steward have been invaluable in defending and supporting our members at every stage of the grievance process, including complex termination cases. This hands-on experience gives me a deep understanding of our members' needs and challenges, ensuring that they always have a strong advocate in their corner.
