Larry Spitzke - CFIA-VM

Hi Veterinary Colleagues

Thank you all for your previous support in past nominations and I ask for support in seeking nomination as a Member at Large for the VM Group Executive. 

This will be my third term as Member at Large and I look forward to continue serving in this capacity. I have been a PIPSC Steward since 2012 and in the past term I have participated in various Working Groups and Consultation Committees. Some of these Committees are; Informal Conflict Management Committee, Public Service Employee Survey, WA Employment Transition Committee, WAUMCC and WAOSH. I also participated in consulting in drafting CFIA’s Policy on Scientific Integrity. One proud moment last term has been my participation on the VM Collective Bargaining team. As you know we a Collective Agreement that has been ratified by our membership. Currently my most active file is participation on the Steering Committee to launch the Modern Swine Inspection Program at slaughter in West. 

Within CFIA I work as an Animal Health VM and have experience working at red meat and poultry establishments. My current substantive position is Port Veterinarian at Coutts Alberta.
