2019 SP Annual General Meeting - Chief Steward Report

The role of Chief Steward is to be the main contact between SP Executive and the SP stewards. The SP Group continue to provide support to steward by providing regular updates on important issues through conference calls and participating and supporting all Regional Steward Councils in 2018. The PIPSC provided relevant data on SP stewards as of March 12, 2019.
Highlights of SP steward numbers are given below:
- The SP Group now has 146 Stewards, representing an increase of 7 stewards from 2018. The ratio of members to stewards is 59. NCR gained 7 stewards in 2019, whereas other regions experienced small decrease or increase in numbers.

- Among SP classifications, BI and PC have the largest number of stewards, followed by MT, CH, SG-SRE, SG-PAT and AC and FO.

- ECCC continue to have the largest number of stewards, followed by HC, DFO, AGCAN and NRCAN.

- Among SP stewards, 63% are male and 37% are female. With the changing demography, we need to encourage more female members to become stewards.
