It is with a profound sense of sorrow and regret that the Institute informs you of the passing of our friend and colleague, Dr. Lynn Bruce Helwig. Lynn passed away on July 11, 2017. His commitment to Institute members was deep and unwavering. He will be missed.
An Institute Life Member, Dr. Helwig served as Vice-President of the Institute (1988-1989, 1992-1993).
Dr. Helwig served Institute members with distinction in a number of capacities over many years, notably as Ontario Regional Director on the Board, Chair of the Veterinary Medicine (VM) Group, Chair of the Toronto Branch, Chair of the VM Bargaining Team, and member of the Institute Task Force on the reform of the public service, Public Service 2000.
PIPSC presented Dr. Helwig with the Institute Service Award in 1979.
The Institute extends its condolences to Dr. Helwig’s family and to the many friends who were privileged to know him.
