The Pay Equity plan has unfolded at the National Gallery with the formation of a committee that included among other members 2 PIPSC representatives. The PEC’s initial phase involved the definition of job classes within the National Gallery. Having job descriptions updated was a good reference and job roles were then categorized and gender predominance defined. The PEC has presently progressed towards the evaluation stage, which entails a detailed assessment of various positions, based on the evaluation standard and compensable factors as they apply within the NG. At a later stage, and as per the Federal Pay Equity Act, the intent will be to publish a report by mid-2024 and ask employees to review it and provide their feedback. Pay adjustments will be applied later to female predominate job classes with a pay equity gap to foster fair compensation irrespective of the gender of the incumbent.
