CS Vote 2019 - Stan Buday

Stan Buday - Résumé - for President

I am honoured to have served as your CS Group President for the past two terms. I have demonstrated leadership and a fierce loyalty to my National Executive, my Group and my Union.

I am once again asking you to return me to the position of President.

I will undertake this responsibility with renewed vigour and energy in the coming term. I promise to follow your direction in dealing with the key issues facing the CS Group today: fair wages and safeguarding CS jobs.

As your President I have acted with integrity, empathy, an open mind and a willingness to change course based on new information whether dealing with contracting out, technological change or the negotiation of a new contract. I have stood by the CS Group through various political environments and I will lead with a clarity of vision in the days ahead.

I have on your behalf:

  • Negotiated a contract with ground-breaking new language on contracting out and technological change as a member of the bargaining team
  • Challenged departments to comply with the new article on contracting out
  • Monitored, questioned and grieved contract tenders.
  • Lobbied MPs on Group concerns
  • Met with and informed members and stewards nationally
  • Motivated members to support the hard work of our bargaining team.
  • Worked closely with our National and Regional Organizing Committees
  • Consulted with the employer at all levels.
  • Was a strong voice in the governance and direction of our union
  • Worked effectively with Institute staff and other elected officials
  • Promoted the interests of the CS Group and its members every day of my term in office

My goal over the next term as President is to:

  • Fight for competitive and equitable wages maintaining all past gains
  • Negotiate a fair and competitive contract
  • Work closely with other Institute Group presidents strategically bargaining good agreements for all members
  • Initiate a new campaign to enforce our collective agreement language on technological change to ensure members are trained to implement and support new technologies including Cloud Computing and Artificial Intelligence
  • Expand steward and member education on our key issues of contracting out, classification and training.
  • Engage our activists to lobby their local MPs on the pitfalls of outsourcing
  • Create tools for our departmental consultation teams to gather information on contractors and ensure training opportunities
  • Continue to promote public awareness of privatization, its inherent inefficiency, and detrimental effect on the quality of services to Canadians.

Experience:

  • 6 years CS Group President
  • 6 years CS Group National Vice President
  • Member, CS Group Bargaining Team
  • Member, PIPSC Strategic Bargaining Committee
  • 16 years member of CS Group National Executive
  • 7 years CS Group National Organizing Committee Chair
  • Past President of Toronto CS Sub-group
  • 20 years member and President, ESDC Consultation Team
  • Founding President, Greater Toronto Area Branch
  • 20 years PIPSC Steward

Thank you for your continued support. I hope that I can rely on your support to re-elect me as CS Group President.

In solidarity,

Stan Buday
