Charles Lee
for BC/Yukon Region AFS Representative
I AM RUNNING because I understand our membership’s frustration and want to make a difference with workplace issues, including:
- Staffing process- the No 1 concern includes biases in staffing process; being in a pool but never placed; no opportunities for developmental assignments; and lack of a fair recourse system.
- Unfair/inconsistent application of policies - including harassment and entitlements (such as leaves, Income Averaging,) are not consistently applied or unjustifiable.
- Work processes – Members are having to meet unreasonable expectations and given inconsistent directions with poorly-designed processes/tools.
While retaining all options, I will seek to resolve concerns through respectful interest-based discussions with Management. My goal is to be EFFECTIVE (not score points).
AND
There WILL NEVER BE ANY AMBIGUITY, I will strongly support the local membership/sub-group in addressing local concerns.
I AM RUNNING because I understand the need for two-way-communication so that membership/Subgroup’s goals (including bargaining) and concerns can be addressed and to provide clear directions so their Regional/National Representative have the support they need to be effective.
CRA/Steward Experiences:
An employee/auditor at CRA for 28 years in the front line programs in Medium-Business, Large Case, SR&ED, and ATP, I have first-hand understanding of our membership concerns/frustrations and will use these to effectively address their concerns.
First became Steward in 2000, was an OSH Trainer, a delegate to Regional and Group AGM, and Subgroup Vice-President (2018 to present).
I have effectively participated in union-management consultation (local and Regional) where I advocate for our membership interest and fought for members in grievances and internal investigations
I have built relationship not only with the stewards/members at VTSO but also other offices. I will continually work collaboratively with our members, stewards, with Regional, Group and Union leadership and have had key-concerns resolved successfully.
Thank you.
