May 28, 2024
- Advisory Council and Board of Directors were presented the political landscape federally and for the provinces and territories.
- Training was provided on preparing for successful lobbying – skills that can be used in government outreach or within our departments.
May 29, 2024
- Concerns were shared regarding “Return to the Office” with the Acting President. More communications from PIPSC to members to come soon.
- Significant discussion on increasing member dues and what information is needed to support leadership in having a conversation with their members.
- Council noted how lack of dues increase over 8 years has affected services and support to members, bargaining groups and consultation teams.
- Stewards, volunteers and internal PIPSC support cannot continue to do more with less.
- Will be discussed further once Board of Directors provides their intent on the member dues increase.
- AC Director provided briefing on April PIPSC Staff conference, PIPSC budget implications, transition of National Steward Officer and update on the 2024 AGM.
- A high-level summary of the PIPSC Strategic Plan was provided.
- Members shared ongoing challenges with Phoenix. Government looking to use AI to deal with backlog. PIPSC has stated concerns with this.
- Presentation on the proposed changes to the Better Together funding model.
