Benjamin Čizmar

My name is Benjamin Čizmar and I am currently employed by Shared Service Canada as a Business Intake Analyst. I was Born in Bosnia and Immigrated to Canada at a young age with my parents and older sister. I have transferred to the public sector after serving many years in the Canadian Armed Forces and receiving many qualifications in the IT Realm and senior leadership roles. Those enabled me to progress at an accelerated pace and awarded me with several achievement during those years. I’ve had the pleasure and privilege to have lead the new generation of troops, airmen and sailors to their first step in the defense of Canada. I am also a proud Canadian who believes in family, integrity, compassion, bravery and commitment. I’ve always believed that nothing is impossible as long as all people put their minds together to adapt and overcome any obstacles in this life as well as continue to better society through the effort of the community. Having served 12 years plus in the Royal Canadian Navy thought me that even though an objective can be achieved by oneself, it will always be more efficient to work as a team and support peoples ideas as they might bring new perspectives to goals and objectives. Most of my accomplishments stem from my time in the military. I was awarded sailor of the quarter which is a very competitive nomination process involving approximately 3000 young sailors, highlighting their dedication to work, volunteering and betterment of the fleet through various means. My continuous questioning of the process, recommendations and knowledge of processes awarded me with advance promotions and unique taskings around the country. After retiring from the forces and joining SSC, I immediately started learning the process and recommending new ones as time went on. I consider myself a good person to be around as I always attempt to bring people up and make them smile when times are hard. Leading from the front has always been something engrained in the way I approach any hardship and I’ve always been keen to give merit to others before myself. Outside of work, I am a very passionate woodworker who possessing my own business, creating furniture and making people happy during the holidays. I also started riding motorcycles to keep my mind free when times get hard. I do enjoy all sort of shows, however, I spend a lot of time watching instructional YouTube videos to learn more about home renovations and general knowledge of the world. I have a beautiful and caring spouse as well as two beautiful and intelligent daughters who make my whole world so much sweeter. They have been supportive of all my endeavours and have sacrificed so much of their souls to see me succeed at every step. Whether it was during my career and deployments or during my retirement from the forces and my reintegration of the civilian world and it’s own challenges.
