Aminul Islam
Dr. Aminul Islam is a materials engineer and researcher specializing in tribology, materials characterization, and failure analysis. Over his career, Dr. Islam has authored more than 100 research articles and technical reports, accumulating over 1,000 citations. Recognized as an expert in tribology, he serves as a committee member for ASTM G1 and G2 Standard Committees and reviews proposals for CFI, NSERC, and MITACS, as well as prestigious journals such as Journal of Engineering Failure Analysis, Wear of Materials, and Tribology International. Currently, Dr. Islam co-chairs the Canadian Hydrogen Codes and Standards Working Group (CSWG) and leads the hydrogen materials compatibility research at NRC. Additionally, Dr. Islam is an Adjunct Faculty member at both UBC and Dalhousie University, where he has mentored and co-supervised numerous highly qualified personnel (HQPs). His contributions extend beyond academia, including leadership roles in the Auto21 HQPAC committee, the Dalhousie Student Union (DSU) Council, and as lead organizer of the 'Podium for Science' seminar series.
