2021 CP Election_Brandon Throne

My name is Brandon Thorne I am a Contracts Officer (PG-01) with the Department of National Defence in Halifax, Nova Scotia. I’m a proud member of the Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada.

I began my career in the federal Public Service in 2009; and began getting involved in the labour movement at that time. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to work for several different federal government departments and agencies.

Prior to joining the Institute, I was a member of the Public Service Alliance of Canada. While a member of the Alliance I was a very active member. I was an elected PA Group Bargaining Team member for the 2018 round of Collective Bargaining. As part of my role as a Bargaining Team member, I travelled across the Atlantic Region updating members on the status of negotiations and answering member questions. In addition, I served the PSAC membership as a Steward, Health and Safety Co-Chair (Labour), and held Vice President and Treasurer positions at the local level. As a Young Professional, I also chaired the PSAC Halifax Young Workers Committee from 2017 – 2019. I represented Alliance members at PSAC Regional, National, and Component conventions as a delegate.

I am offering for the position of Member at Large on the CP Group Executive. I enjoy working with others, have great communication skills, and have twelve years experience in union activism. I believe that my previous union experience and leadership will be an asset to the Institute.

I can be your voice and represent you on the executive. It would be a great honour and privilege to serve the CP Group membership. Thank you for your consideration. In Solidarity!
