The election committee has investigated claims that Michael Simard emailed to voting members (Subject: Misinformation and fact checking/Désinformation et vérification des faits) and would like to inform voting members that we could not substantiate the claims.

We believe Mr. Simard’s email contravenes By-Law 22.4 of the PIPSC Election Campaign Administrative Procedures.

1. A. Bylaw 22.4 Election Campaigns: Candidates, supporters, and other members involved in election activities will be expected to observe accepted standards of conduct through an election campaign, both in verbal and written communications.

As per the bylaws, the committee was pursuing corrective measures. The committee informed Mr. Simard of its decision, however he decided to withdraw his candidacy.  No further action is planned by the Election Committee.

As a result of Mr. Simard's withdrawal, we hereby confirm the election by acclamation of Mr. Nicolas Helal to the position of Vice-president.

Please note that the voting system does not allow us to remove the candidates at this stage in the election. Therefore, votes casted for the election of the Vice president position will not be tabulated in the final count.

The committee would like to remind members that the voting period for the NAV Canada Group Executive 2025 election is still open. If you haven’t cast your vote yet, please take a moment to do so before the deadline on Thursday, May 29, 2025 at 4:00 PM EDT. You may also update your vote any time before the deadline.

In solidarity,

NAV Canada Group Election Committee
