Update: May 25, 2021: Due to unforseen system defects, the voting period has been extended to May 27, 2021 at 12:00 PM ET

Your PIPSC bargaining team is pleased to announce that on May 12, 2021, we signed a tentative agreement with the hospital to conclude this round of collective bargaining.  The bargaining team would like to thank all members for their support and patience during this unique round of bargaining. We believe we have reached the best deal possible in what has provided very challenging circumstances for negotiations.

The Ford government’s Bill 124 imposed salary and compensation caps totaling 1% per year for the next 3 years of our collective agreement, including a ceiling of 1% on any increases to salary rates during each of these years. It is in this context that we entered into the current round of bargaining. Your bargaining team was committed to bring back the best possible agreement under the circumstances, and after six days of negotiations and one day of conciliation, we have reached an agreement that your committee unanimously recommends to the membership.

In addition, PIPSC joined 11 Ontario unions representing more than 250,000 provincial public sector employees in a coordinated Charter challenge against Bill 124. Should this challenge be successful, the tentative agreement provides the ability to re-open the collective agreement for negotiation of monetary items.

This agreement must now be ratified by the PIPSC JCC-RT membership. An electronic vote will be held in order to ratify this agreement. Eligible members in good standing will receive the voting instructions by email. In accordance with the group by-laws, regular members and retired members who ceased to be regular members on or after October 1, 2018, shall be eligible to vote.

Information sessions are scheduled for Thursday

The voting will be open for a period beginning May 18, 2021, and closing at 12:00 PM ET on May 27, 2021. Please ensure your membership information is up to date.

You will find all the information below. It is important that you take the time to review everything prior to voting and prior to asking questions of the bargaining team.

Please review the linked documents:

A yes vote means: You are accepting all of the changes proposed in the tentative agreement. Those changes will take place at the date of the signing (except as otherwise noted) and the employer will require additional time to implement the pay increases (this includes any retroactive pay).

A no vote means: You reject the tentative agreement and instruct the PIPSC Bargaining Team to pursue further negotiations, with a high likelihood of heading to arbitration.

Your PIPSC JCC-RT Bargaining Team unanimously recommends the acceptance of this tentative agreement.
