PIPSC has submitted recommendations to the legislative committee reviewing Bill C-39, the Building Canada Strong Act. We’re raising concerns about the bill’s potential impact on scientific integrity, environmental protections, Indigenous rights, and workers’ collective bargaining rights. We’re calling for:
- environmental assessments based on sound scientific evidence
- adequate resources for federal regulators
- meaningful consultation with Indigenous Peoples
- changes to protect workers’ right to strike, and more
We cannot build Canada strong by weakening the workers, expertise and science-based institutions that keep it strong.
