In our Collective Agreement, AFS members are entitled to fifteen (15) hours of Personal Leave with pay and forty-five (45) hours of Leave with pay for family-related responsibilities. Both of these leaves cannot be carried over from year-to-year.

In the PSTAR Grievances, FPSLREB File Nos. 566.34.9832 & 9833 (Myles& Alcock), PIPSC recently finished its final arguments in support of our members. The Labour Board will now render its decision with written reasons in the coming months.

The AFS Bargaining Team shared our AFS specific pay proposals electronically with the Employer on January 26, 2019. We took this unusual step to give the Employer every opportunity to obtain a mandate and respond meaningfully when we meet on February 12 to 14.

The AFS Group Annual General Meeting will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2019 at the Delta Winnipeg. The AFS Group By-Laws provide for seventy-one (71) delegates including the eleven (11) members of the AFS Group Executive. The remaining sixty (60) official delegates are allocated on the basis of population by region and chosen by the Regional Representatives.

From the President …
As we near the end of 2018, we can be thankful for many things. After several years of frustration, we ratified a new collective agreement and began work on classification reform.

The AFS Bargaining Team was scheduled to meet with CRA management December 18 to 20 to continue negotiations to renew our collective agreement. Unfortunately, it became clear to our bargaining team that the Treasury Board has not provided CRA with a mandate to resolve our concerns.

Your AFS Executive members recently participated in a Positive Space Awareness LGBTQ2+ training session. The session was informative and an excellent opportunity to exchange thoughts on how we all support an open healthy work environment for everyone.

The Labour Board heard the PSTAR grievances, FPSLREB File Nos. 566.34.9832 & 9833 (Myles & Alcock), on October 2-5. During the hearing both PIPSC and the CRA presented all the evidence and we will make our final arguments in the near future.

The AFS Bargaining Team met with CRA management October 10 to 12 to begin negotiations to renew our collective agreement that will expire on December 21st of this year.

Under the terms of the AFS Collective Agreement, the Agency has 150 days from the March 29, 2018 signing date for implementation. This 150 day period expired on August 26th.

The AFS Group served notice to bargain with the employer on August 22, 2018.
We have also agreed on our first bargaining dates, October 10 to 12, and November 6 to 8.
