1. Call to Order & Welcome

  • Meeting called to order at 5:02 p.m. by Michael Kenny.

2. Approval of Agenda

3. Indigenous Land Acknowledgment

  • Delivered by Michael:
    “We are gathered on the traditional and unseeded territory of the Algonquin Anishnaabeg people, which is also home to a strong urban Inuit community. Our acknowledgement to these people reminds us of our important connection to this land where we learn and work.”

4. Approval of Previous Meeting Minutes

  • Moved by Art, seconded by Abe.

5. Treasurer’s Report

  • Presented by Andra. No issues raised.

6. OCB Retirement Sessions Recap

  • Presented by Susan Amog
    • Retirement and wills/estate sessions were a strong start to the year.
    • Planning is underway for the Wave Pool event.

7. Regional Council Feedback

  • General feedback:
    • Event went well.
    • Hospitality in honour of Del Dickson was within the previously approved budget.
    • Michelle successfully obtained a position.
    • Last-minute OCB cancellation was not flagged in time.

8. Committee Updates

a. Training Learning

  • 90 participants accepted; 60 expected to attend the next session.
  • Challenges in connecting with the Wave Pool contact.

b. Social

  • Committee met to begin planning for the AGM.

c. Outreach

  • One steward application received.
  • Plans to partner with Ottawa South Branch for a joint event at Absolute Comedy on October 23.

d. Bylaws

  • No updates to report.

e. Finance

  • No additional meetings; nothing new to report.

f. Communications

  • No updates; planning to organize a meeting soon.

9. Other Business

  1. Union Support Request – IRB Staff BBQ
    • Email request reviewed; Michael will respond.
    • Brian expressed support, referencing Mike Kenny.
  2. Ottawa Hockey Event
    • Michelle inquired about assistance.
    • Ticketmaster is assisting with logistics.
  3. Communications Template
    • Susan to contact Monica to request a standardized template for invitations to facilitate postings on the PIPSC site.

10. Next Meeting & Adjournment

  • Next meeting scheduled for Monday, June 9, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. (Virtual).
  • Andra reminded the group about expense support procedures.
  • Note: The big Wave Pool event in Ottawa is targeted for the third week of July (Susan to coordinate).
