WINNIPEG SH SUB-GROUP 2025 AGM MINUTES
Date: May 21, 2025
1. Call to Order at 6:10pm by Lynn
2. Welcome and Introductions – everyone introduced themselves
3. Approval of Agenda – moved by Lynn, seconded by Bhawna
4. Approval of previous AGM minutes (March 7, 2024) – moved by Melissa, seconded by Keith
5. Opportunity for questions concerning the reports that were distributed electronically – none
6. SH presidents report
- Over the last year we went from 10 to 19 subgroups
- Importance of subgroups
- Bargaining updates/information such as how the general economic increase generally works, what market adjustments are, aiming to have bargaining team ready for the fall, planning to do more town halls again
- RTO discussed. No data/research to support, only financial/political pressure. Ongoing legal challenges from PSAC and PIPSC. Encouraging everyone to look into DTAs if needed. Question – possibility of 5 days per week? Answer – no plans as of right now but uncertain future. Question – is legal action trying to keep us at home? Answer – no because TB has the right to force us back to office
- Work force adjustments discussed, have been ongoing for the last year or so with many lay offs. Two people at IRCC had their positions deleted, so far no plans for ESDC. 500 people in passports being laid off. Question – would the employer try to find you a different job within the government? Answer – likely yes, another nurse job
7. Approval of budget – no questions, moved by Karen, seconded by Olga
8. Elections – President and Treasurer
- No nominations from the floor
- Ashly and Kim to stay in as President and Treasurer
9. New Business
- New steward to be trained in Victoria – Gemma
- NTST not being used yet unfortunately, hopefully soon
- Karen indicated that PSCs are now triaging for grave files and therefore to beware of things being missed
- Carl indicated to beware of volunteering for teams such as incapacity because then you have no choice but to be on the team indefinitely, unable to leave. Lynn responded by saying this can be addressed in consultation meetings
- Engagement events suggestions included paint nite (perhaps even DIY), archery, axe throwing, bowling, goat yoga again, mini golf, fringe festival, gold eyes game, shooting
