Quebec Regional Council 2019 - Sherbrooke Branch

SHERBROOKE BRANCH PRESIDENT’S REPORT

FOR THE PERIOD FROM JANUARY 1 TO AUGUST 12, 2018

Mrs.Louise Beaudouin, Sherbrooke Branch Executive retired during the year. I would like to recognize her contribution to our Executive over the past several years.

We had 6 Executive meetings last year.

On June 13, 2018, we had a Pizza Lunch to celebrate the National Public Service Week.  The event was held at 50 Place de la Cité in Sherbrooke and was sponsored jointly with the Public Service Alliance of Canada.   Sherbrooke Branch members wore their royal blue jerseys.  More than 100 people attended.

On October 11, 2018, we held another joint event with PSAC at the same place, about the Phoenix Pay System.  The goal was to bring together public service employees from across Canada and to denounce the failures of the system.   More than 100 people came out. The MP for Sherbrooke, Pierre-Luc Dusseault, also joined us.  Media was also present.

Around 20 people attended our October 17, 2018 AGM. Yvon Brodeur and Stéphane Aubry were our guest speakers. It was interesting to see four new members and three invited members from the Lenoxville Branch.

I would like to thank all the members who support their union through their day-to-day actions. I would particularly like to thank my fellow Executive members as we all strive to represent our members in the workplace and keep members as informed as possible.

I hope we all see the results based on our involvement in the union.

In solidarity,  Sincerely,

Benoit Pelletier (2)

President, Sherbrooke Branch
