SHERBROOKE BRANCH PRESIDENT’S REPORT FOR THE PERIOD FROM JANUARY 1 TO DECEMBER 31, 2018

Louise Beaudouin, a member of the Sherbrooke Branch Executive, retired this past year. I would like to recognize her contribution to the Sherbrooke Executive for the past several years.

We had six Executive meetings last year.

On June 13, 2018, we had a pizza lunch to celebrate National Public Service Week.  The event was held at 50 Place de la Cité in Sherbrooke and was sponsored jointly with the Public Service Alliance of Canada.   Sherbrooke Branch members wore their royal blue jerseys for the occasion.  More than 100 people attended.

On October 11, 2018, we held another joint event with PSAC to talk about the Phoenix pay system.  The goal was to bring together public service employees from across Canada and to highlight the failures of the system. The event took place at 50 Place de la Cité. More than 100 people came out. The MP for Sherbrooke, Pierre-Luc Dusseault, also joined us.  The media was on hand.

Around 20 people attended our AGM on October 17, 2018. Yvon Brodeur and Stéphane Aubry were our guest speakers. It is worth noting that there were four new members and three guests from the Lennoxville Branch.

I would like to thank all the members who support their union in their day-to-day actions. I would particularly like to thank my fellow Executive members as we all strive to represent our members in the workplace and keep them as informed as possible.

I hope you get results that reflect your union involvement.

In solidarity!  Sincerely,

Benoit Pelletier (2)

President, Sherbrooke Branch
