Update on Covid-19 and our WASMB

We are all in this together.  And we are proud of all of our members doing their work now under this challenging time with the pandemic. You are all working hard to assist, with your expertise and skills to your fullest capacity.

For many of us, the best thing we can do is stay home and if able to, work from home to keep our families and community safe and healthy. This is an important contribution that should not be underestimated, as not everyone is able to working from home, either due to employment requirements or other obstacles. Wherever you are, we hope you are staying safe.

This is a challenging time and it is always okay to not be okay. We encourage you to reach out to your community, your union colleagues and your employee assistance program for support. 

Management and human resources are in regular communication with your union representatives, so your department or agency’s Steward is another good resource.

As all in-person PIPSC meetings and events are postponed until further notice, our WASMB Annual General Meeting will be postponed or potentially will take place in a different form. We strongly believe that limiting the travel of our members from across Winnipeg and Manitoba is the right thing to do at this time, in accordance with direction from PIPSC Board of Directors. We will keep you informed on our AGM as more information becomes available.

We are proud of you, we are here for you and we are all in this together!!

As we are not able to get together at this time, the Executive is offering a ‘scavenger’ hunt for those that wish to participate.  Correct entries will be entered into a draw for 1 of 20 gift cards to a local restaurant or local retailer of your choice/your community.  We greatly appreciate the struggles locally due to the pandemic and wish to support our community businesses!

We have developed 3 different search challenges for your winter consideration:

1)    Identify which Winnipeg or Southern Manitoba community are the iconic landmarks from;

2)    A quiz based upon the PIPSC website; and

3)    A quiz based upon content within the history of PIPSC, Leading Progress, The Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada 1920-2020, by Jason Russell.

 

Each submission page contains three quizzes and three chances to win. Your name will be entered into the draw for each quiz section you complete. Only one submission page per member will be accepted. 

 

Email addresses will only be used for contacting winners.  Prizes will be $25 gift cards to local retailers/businesses.
