     a) Last meeting -  Wednesday May 24, 2023

  1. President’s Report

     a) Edmonton Branch Representative s now Sharon Losinski.

     b) Regional Director encourages Labour Day events. Branches can ask for funding if required from Region.

         Pramesh planning to request funding. Likely no more than $300 or $400

         Discussion on Labour day event in Brandon.

         Email from PIPSC Mobilization Team about Labour Day materials

     c) Need to discuss Executive Training. Branch has two spots.  No information circulated to date (to be held Oct 27/28 in                 Calgary).

     Anyone interested to contact Cory.

     d) Treasurer training to be developed (Nancy). Will be mandatory for treasurers.

     e) Call should come out soon for the Steward Council.

     f) PIPSC AGM, there will be a Regional caucus and hospitality suite requested.

     g) Gala event is a seated dinner

     h) Vaccination policy was reviewed and suspension of policy is continued

Some branches purchase a wreath for Remembrance Day. Discussion. Location of laying could be on a rotation basis. Cory to investigate costs.

     a) Laptop for branch – Jason (deferred)

     b) Selection criteria for National AGM delegates – update (Dave/Pramesh) for 2024 AGM (deferred)

     c) Steward Council 2023 Winnipeg, September 22/23

         Branch to identify:

         i) Event / social activity –True North Square (Kevin/Cory)

         ii) Charity to fund-raise for – discussion. Region may have decided to have no fundraising at this event- Cory to verify.

         iii) Swag item (Cory) – cutlery purchased

     d) Engagement

         i) Bomber Game 2023 (Jason) deferred to 2024 due to Goldeyes' event.

         ii) Goldeyes Game 2023 (David/Terri) – event sold out very quickly. May look at multiple dates  Chips and dip, salsa can                 be available. Discussed registration table. Goldeyes can supply a table. Volunteers included Pramesh, Terri, Jason,                   Kevin. What to do with late arrivals? Wait until the game starts and that is it.

             1. Terri- moved that David be reimbursed costs up to $1100 for member engagement event.

         iii) Airplane Museum (Kevin) deferred until 2024.

         iv) Valour Game 2023 (David) May or June 2024

     e) Standing Events

          i) Steward Appreciation Oct 2023 (Terri) Trans Canada Brewing booked for October 19, 2023

             Motion:

             All Branch Executive Members be authorized to attend steward appreciation event.

             Note: Terri applied for Better Together Funding

                       There was a discussion about a similar event in Brandon.

     f) Volunteer Opportunity

          i) Branch was registered and accepted to volunteer at MB Harvest (just need to select date(s) - Cory

             1. Shirts for those that volunteer – Jason

             2. Aiming for first part of November. Mid week might be best.

 

  1. Round Table

Cory- former negotiator for PIPSC is now the negotiator for the Manitoba Government.

          Pramesh: Moved that expenses up to $X be approved to hand out items (e.g. snacks) at Labour Day event.

          Seconded by Blair.

          Carried.

Kevin: travelling to AC meeting

David: nothing to add

Blair: Asked about executive training as he is interested. Cory will inform once the call out is received. Public Service Health Care Plan- portal is down, unable to talk to anyone. They are not even answering the phone. Just a “black hole.”

Brent: Asked about what is being done about the PSHCP?

Terri: ESDC consultation dates coming up this fall.

Kevin to send a doodle poll for the week of September 11. Terri to check on availability of Junction 59 restaurant as it has a meeting room and internet.
