GTA Branch Meeting Minutes - September 17, 2025

Opening: Welcome by Kuini Chuen at 6:30 pm.
Approval of Agenda: moved by Nuşin, seconded by Nicole.
Motion to accept June 17th planning meeting minutes: moved by Nuşin, seconded by Nicole.
Both agenda and minutes were approved.
Reflection of Past Events: The Toronto Labor Day Parade was held September 1st. The Ontario Steward Council took place September 12-13, 2025, at Niagara-on-the-Lake.
GTA Branch Pulse Check: There was a discussion about possible upcoming staff reductions across departments, budget review of the government of Canada and PSES survey results. WFA information is available through the PIPSC website.
Upcoming Events/Items: Basic Steward Training is coming up October 16-18, 2025, at Niagara-on-the-Lake.
Lalita is the lead for the GTA Branch Zoo event that will take place October 19th. Last year, the event invite indicated that interested members needed to submit an expression of interest to enter a random draw due to high interest. The latest time to obtain tickets upon arrival at the zoo will be indicated on the notice and enforced.
Tilt is an all you can play arcade bar in Toronto, located at 1255 Queen Street W. The price is $XX per person. The Tilt event to be set tentatively for the week of November 17th, possibly Tuesday November 18th as there is a 2-for-1 offer on Tuesdays.
Action Item: Kuini to check prices for drink tickets at Tilt.
Advanced Steward Training takes place November 12 to 15, 2025, at Niagara-on-the-Lake.
The Midland Holiday party date is to be confirmed for the second week of December.
Action Item: Vini and Yu Gao to confirm the event date by the beginning of November.
Finance Review: We received our 2025 allocation in June based on 2718 Branch members. We will determine the funding amount to be spent on visibility items.
Nicole made a motion to allocate an additional $XXXX towards the zoo event. Nathaniel seconded. Motion carried. We will also apply for Better Together funding to use towards the zoo event.
Visibility Items Update: Delores ordered different items to be distributed at networking events including GTA Branch branded t-shirts. We have a few promotional items remaining from 2024.
Stan made a motion to increase funding for visibility items by an additional amount, for total spending of up to $XXXX. Yu Gao seconded, Motion carried.
PIPSC AGM: The PIPSC AGM will take place December 13-14, 2025 at the Sheraton in Toronto. Kuini and Nicole will attend on behalf of the Branch.
Next Meeting: Next meeting is to be held December 17th, location TBA.
