  1. President’s Report
  • 2026 Regional Council Debrief
    • Located in NCR and attended by the exec committee. 3 people re-elected and 2 newly elected.
    • RCMP hosted some engagement events. 
  • 2026 PIPSC National AGM Call-out
    • Held in Ottawa at the end of November. Call-out has been emailed to members.
  • Acceptance of verbal report. M/S/C
  1. Treasurer’s Report
  • Tim provided an update on the financial status of the SG. 
  • ACTION: Tim and Marianne to get a new bank card and add new signatories (Hugo and Helen) to replace outgoing exec committee members.

  1. National & Regional Updates     
  • VP resigned – committee to arrange appreciation gifts for outgoing Secretary and Treasurer as well. Subgroup supports the allocation of $150 for gift cards. M/S/C
  • Virtual Games Night – Discord, May 20th
    • No cost event had good turnout. Planning to host future events with Amazon gift card prize draw for attendees.                
  • BC-Yukon Steward Council, Oct 23 – 25
    • Located in Downtown Vancouver (Coal Harbour)
  • NPSW Debrief
    • Buildings had ice cream and non-dairy frozen treats in lunchroom freezers with visible PIPSC signs/labels and background info on NPSW originating as a union initiative.
    • RCMP building had banh mi and BBT.
  • FIFA Impacts
    • Management in downtown office locations have offered flexibility for employees to WFH on match days.
  • WFA/RTO4 Impacts
    • myWorkArrangements renewing, due early July.
  1. Sub Group 2026 Plans and Activities
  • SG AGM – Sept 17 at Personas Burnaby
    • Anticipated guest count of 30 people. However, upon clarification with venue management, the space we wanted requires a minimum guest count of 40 to reserve.
    • Alternate venues were discussed, prioritizing accessibility by transit and free parking. Phil to reach out to them, and loop in Hugo as alternate point of contact for venue and to help with planning).
    • Pending budget, may want to consider cap on number of guests (25?), giveaways (raffle for a few gift cards rather than guaranteed movie tickets)
    • ACTION: Bryan to reach out to Rob Macdonald as guest speaker.
    • Notice to Members/RSVP Form should go out 30d prior to event. Need to allow time for translation even before then. Suggest noting potential seat limitation in notice.

    • ACTION: Tim to add notice to member templates to subgroup Google Drive
    • Marianne to act as elections chair
  • Bird Banding
    • Decision to discontinue planning for this as the activity requires an early morning start.
  • Labour Day Booth at Edmonds Park
    • No additional cost, just bring visibility items (to which, some funds have already been committed).
    • No longer pursuing pool passes idea.
  • Follow-up pickleball event
    • Collab with other union groups using leftover funds from previous event’s allocation. Aiming for early October.
  • Dine Out (collab with YP and 401 Burrard)
    • Planning underway. Will be a dinner in downtown on August 19.
  • Movie Morning
    • SP no longer participating.
  • Regional Collab Picnic (w/ AFS Van, Vancouver Branch)
    • Early indications of limited interest. Dropping for now, may revisit in future.
  • Other ideas (Mini Golf, Bowling, Tree-top adventure, Deer Lake)
    • Boating at Deer Lake to be discussed further at next meeting.
    • Lunch-and-learns. Template presentations/recordings listed at the bottom of the Minutes. Organizer could gauge members’ interest in the various topics for their respective buildings.

  • Visibility items
    • Trader Joe’s Tote bags collab with Surrey White Rock
      • Subgroup supports the allocation an additional $150 for 100 bags (note: leftover money from the NPSW event allocation covers most of this). M/S/C
    • PIPSC mugs
      • To stock in office lunchroom cupboards. Can bulk order. Subgroup to revisit this after reviewing financial status post-AGM.
  • Returning PIPSC items back to the subgroup
    • T-shirts, literature, and other event items (2 totes) with Phil. Discussed potentially transferring to regional storage locker or donating to Region.
      • ACTION: Philip to bring items to next meeting
  • Microphone for speakers to use at our various events
    • Phil presented options ranging $100-250.
    • ACTION: Phil to share details with Tim to reach out to Branch – they may be able to fund this instead of our subgroup.

  • Tentatively set for Wednesday, Jul 22nd at 6pm, Burnaby, near Brentwood station.
  • ACTION: Phil to book venue for next meeting.
