Your IT Bargaining Team met with the employer in May and June to continue negotiations.

Work Force Adjustment (WFA)

A key focus of the May session was workforce adjustment (WFA).  Your bargaining team emphasized the importance of protecting the existing WFA language in our collective agreement. We continue to oppose the employer’s efforts to weaken these protections.

The employer also presented proposals related to pay simplification. These proposals would affect all PIPSC members and will require a coordinated response across all bargaining groups.

Artificial Intelligence (AI)

In June, discussions focused on artificial intelligence (AI) and the use of the employer’s electronic systems for union business. These discussions led to modest progress on several non-monetary issues.

Your bargaining team stressed the need for meaningful consultation and union involvement in the implementation of AI in the workplace. We also highlighted the importance of safeguards to protect members from the potential risks associated with this technology.

Telework and return-to-office (RTO)

Telework remains a top priority for IT members.

Our unfair labour practice complaint regarding the RTO4 mandate continues to be addressed through mediation at the labour board. We will continue to challenge the return-to-office mandate at every opportunity and in every available forum.

Stay engaged

We have also been holding information sessions on the importance of preserving WFA language in our collective agreement. Every effort you make to stay informed strengthens our position at the bargaining table. Your engagement sends a clear message that these issues matter and that our collective voice is strong.

The next bargaining session is scheduled for August 24 to 27, 2026.  We expect to begin detailed discussions about pay at that time. Additional bargaining sessions are also scheduled for October and December.

Thank you for your continued support.
