The bargaining team would like to start by wishing all UOITP members well during this time. We also want to thank all the members who responded to the bargaining survey. As a result of the high response rate the team has a clear direction and way forward!
After a pause as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, the bargaining team is refocused and ready to work with the employer to negotiate and secure a contract that UOITP members deserve. Though we can’t meet the employer face-to-face and negotiate in the traditional way, we are in regular communication with the employer and are looking for new and creative ways to negotiate!
Taking the responses to the survey and the current circumstances into deep consideration, if we reach an impasse, we have reached an agreement with the employer that we will utilize arbitration as opposed to strike action to secure a contract.
