Minutes for executive meeting

April 5^th, 2023 – 12 to 1 pm

1.     Approval of Agenda

·        Agenda approved by all.

2.     Approval of February 23^rd, 2023 executive meeting minutes

·        Minutes of the previous meeting approved by all.

 

3.     The SP AGM was held on April 1^st 2023

·        SP AGM went well over all in Toronto. No major issues.

·        For anyone going first time to an AGM, it was agreed that the SP AGM would be one that they should attend first.

 

4.     Bargaining Update

5a. SP Group

·        Meeting 22-23^rd March with Treasury Board at Treasury Board offices in downtown Ottawa offices.

·        PIPSC has attempted to narrow down and simply things for Treasury Board but things moving forward but slowly from Treasury Board’s side.

·        Next meeting is @ May 16-18^th. Not sure if pay proposals to T.B. to be put forth, it depends on if the proposals presented earlier have been dealt with.

 

5b. Central Table

·        There appears to some movement with Treasury Board and it appears promising.

·        Greening the collective agreement proposals ongoing with Treasury Board (see link for more info: Central Table Proposals | The Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada (pipsc.ca)).

 

5.     Bargaining Lunch and Learn

·        Presentation on April 13^th by Enzo Barresi (SP Bargaining chair).

·        @20min presentation and rest for Q&A.

·        It will be a summary of what was presented at the SP AGM but more focused towards the 50 Victoria St. members. The summary of the presentations at the SP AGM will be made available after translation either via email or for download from a drive.

Action: Marcel to send a reminder email about the Bargaining L&L presentation to the PIPSC 50 Victoria St. members.

 

6.     Subgroup President’s Meetings

·        Sub-group’s president’s meeting in the Niagara region on June 17^th. Mary going as Marcel’s replacement.

·        One of the items to be discussed at the meeting is that the SP group wants a long-term plan (10yrs, 15yrs, etc.…) with respect to bargaining. So, the Sub-group’s presidents will be asked on their concerns/needs/wants of what the SP group should be doing long term. For example, this will allow the SP group to have a more accurate priority list ready for the next bargaining round.

 

7.     Next Meeting

·        1^st June.

Action: Reg to send out meeting request for June 1^st.

8.     Round Table

·        Issue with enrolling some new Patent Examiners with SunLife. There is a delay @1 month of getting health insurance coverage. Appears to be issue accessing Phoenix.

Action: Lisa to contact Donald Lefebvre and maybe the directors to help straighten out this issue.

·        Also, since we are switching health providers from SunLife to Canada Life. Who to sign up with for the new examiners. Recommeneded, they sign up with SunLife for the month and then switch to Canada Life.

·        Member interested in joining the PIPSC 50 Victoria St... Recommended that person get the e-mail invite for the next executive meeting and observe the meeting.

Action: Mazen to forward info on the Member interested in joining the next PIPSC 50 Victoria St meeting to Reg and Reg to send email invite to that member.
