Allow members to come to the AGM and/or to the dinner.

    2. Christmas dinner with FSNA (submissions)
The Executive recommends that the FSNA hold its Christmas dinner at Sagamité on November 21, 2024.

Action (Guy): Forward the recommendation to the next Executive Board meeting on June 26.

  1. National Retired Member Guild

    National GMR meeting
Yvon attended the first meeting of the new National Guild executive. One of the topics discussed was the treatment of retirees' rights within the Institute.
A request for information on how to join FSNA was raised.
Action (Guy): Send membership forms to Yvon.

  2. Presentation on the Federal Superannuates National Association
    Activity report
The Quebec City chapter held its AGM at the Roc-Amadour patro in April. Nearly 140 members took part in it. Participants were given a presentation by Groupe Forget and Services Canada. Several booths were present, including Groupe Forget, Harmonia, Service Canada, Belairdirect and Agence Julie Labbé. Members had the opportunity to visit them during the AGM.

A General Information Meeting was held in the 2 sub-sections (Saguenay-Lac-St-Jean and Bas-Saint-Laurent-Gaspésie). Each GIM attracted around 40 participants. There was a presentation by Service Canada and a presentation on fraud against seniors by the Sûreté du Québec.

A sugar shack activity was held in April at Érablière du Cap. Just over 35 people took part in it.

During Public Service Week, the Quebec City chapter set up an information booth in d'Estimauville. Over 350 information brochures were handed out.
  3. The Institute
This year, the Institute's AGM will be held in Toronto on November 8 and 9, 2024. Registration is now open.
A round-table discussion on the removal of the Institute's President takes place. Everyone agrees that its internal squabbles don't help the image of the Institute/trade unions.

  4. Québec Region
    Regional Council
A new executive has been elected and there are several new faces, which we hope will bring new ideas.

A presentation on the pension was given to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency at the employer's hybrid offices in Montreal and Quebec City. This was made possible by the employer's state-of-the-art equipment. A presentation is scheduled for September in Sherbrooke and another for October in Chicoutimi.

The year's motions have been re-examined, as they were sent in late last year and therefore declared out of order.

    Québec Steward Council
It is proposed to hold an information booth on the Guild at the Steward Council to be held in Trois-Rivières in September. The goal is to encourage the creation of local Guild chapters. No decision has been taken. An estimate of costs and benefits would be required.

Action (Yvon): Estimate the costs and benefits of setting up a booth at the Québec Steward Council.

  1. Miscellaneous

    1. Institute National Elections
There will be elections at the Institute this year, and all positions will be up for election (President, 2 full-time VPs, 2 part-time VPs, the Director for Québec and other regions).

    2. CP Group retired members’ complaints
There have been breaches in the CP group elections. The decision of the board of elections was rendered: (https://pipsc.ca/groups/cp/2024-cp-election-offence).

    3. Request to increase the death benefit
One member pointed out that the death benefit has not been revised/increased for several decades. We'll be sending a letter to the National Guild and the FSNA to raise the issue at the National Joint Council. It would be interesting to have statistics on this benefit.

Action (Yvon): Prepare and send the letter to revise the death benefit.

Action (Guy): Include the death benefit payment statistics in the FSNA's Freedom of Information request for federal retirees' postal codes this winter.
