Retired Members Guild Nova Scotia Chapter Executive Meeting

CALL TO ORDER

President called the meeting to order at 1:00 PM and welcomed everyone.

ADOPTION OF AGENDA

Agenda adopted by show of hands.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES last meeting

Motion to approve the minutes of the May 10, 2023 meeting, adopted.

OLD BUSINESS REVIEWED:

  1. Review of minutes: PIPSC RMGNS Chapter Minutes May 10, 2023
  2. Continue to monitor problems members are having with the new Public Service health care plan provider, Canada Life
  3. If there has been movement by PIPSC on a providing a climate change policy
  4. There is a lack of resources to determine the value the RMG provides to PIPSC
  5. Gary provided a review of the file standardization procedure for emails, documents.

REPORTS:

1. President’s Report: Nothing to report at this time.

2. Treasurer’s Report: Noel White presented an overview of the chapter finances. From November 1 2022 - September 30 2023. Interest earned in our BMO account: $59.50. Meeting expenses were: $779.42. Membership recruitment: $252.00. A balance of $902.16 remains in the account, prior to expensing the cost of today’s meeting.

NEW BUSINESS:

  1. Continue to follow the problems members have with Canada Life health care provider. Determine if the provider is meeting the needs in a timely fashion for our members.
  2. The date for our next Annual General meeting (AGM) be determined at the next Executive meeting.
  3. Select an election committee at our next Executive meeting.
  4. Set seven days as a response time for comments, corrections to the minutes.

ROUND TABLE:

  1. Determine the date for our AGM at the next Executive meeting.
  2. Discuss door prizes for our AGM at the next Executive meeting.
  3. Mike Forbes, Regional Executive Officer (REO), will be attending the AGM for the Retired Members Group in Ottawa 17 October 2023
