Summary: The National Research Council – Research Officers/Research Council Officers (NRC-RO/RCO) bargaining team signed a tentative agreement with the National Research Council. This agreement must now be ratified by the NRC-RO/RCO membership.
After intense negotiations, the NRC-RO/RCO bargaining team is pleased to announce that we signed a tentative agreement with the National Research Council, concluding this round of bargaining.
This agreement must now be ratified by the NRC-RO/RCO membership. Regular members in good standing will receive the voting instructions by email. Ensure your contact information is up to date so that you can participate in the vote.
The voting will be open from November 10 to November 24, 2023, at 4:30 PM (ET). If you don’t receive the email with your voting ballot, please contact Elizabeth Morin at emorin@pipsc.ca.

Here are some highlights of our major gains:
- 12.5% increase in pay over 4 years
- $2,500 signing bonus
- For the first time, a Letter of Understanding giving employees stronger protections and rights around remote work
- The establishment of a new “Leave without pay (LWOP) for Research and Innovation” Policy
- Progress with Double-Bar issues
- Timely approval for conference attendance requests
- Removal of « core hours » language for employees on 1950h
- The establishment of a committee to investigate equity in operational research funding
