Dear Colleagues,
The National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women, often referred to as White Ribbon Day, is a somber day observed annually in Canada on December 6th. This day commemorates the tragic École Polytechnique massacre of 1989, where armed student Marc Lépine murdered fourteen women and injured fourteen others in a misogynistic act.
We are cordially inviting you to attend the December 6th National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women event at CanmetENERGY Ottawa in the Bells Corners Complex. This event will honor the victims of this tragic event. It is being co-sponsored by the PIPSC NRCAN Branch, the NRCAN NR Sub-group, and CanmetENERGY Ottawa management.
Date: December 6, 2024
Time: 11 am
Location: CanmetENERGY Ottawa, in front of Building 3 (Bench and 50 years board located)
This event will provide an opportunity to reflect, remember, and unite as a community. We will observe a moment of silence, listen to poignant speeches, and participate in lighting candles and placing a wreath.
We are looking for volunteers who work as engineers at the Bells Corners Complex campus to read parts of the memorial speech. If you are interested, please send a confirmation email to gloria.yu@nrcan-rncan.gc.ca by Nov. 28.
We look forward to your presence.
