The NR Group ratification package and tentative agreement next steps.

Summary: The Engineering, Architecture and Land Survey (NR) Group bargaining team is pleased to announce that on December 14, 2024, we reached a tentative agreement with the Treasury Board Secretariat to conclude this round of collective bargaining. We believe we have reached the best deal possible in what has been a challenging round of negotiations.

This agreement must now be ratified by the NR Group membership. An electronic vote will be held in order to ratify this agreement. All regular members in good standing will receive the voting instructions by email.

Highlights of this tentative agreement include:

  • 12.5% wage increase over 4 years (compounded to 13.14%)
  • $2,500 one-time lump sum payment
  • Key improvements to vacation leave
  • Improvements with flexibility in work hours
  • Improved language on professional development
  • Clarification on the payment of professional fees for urban planners
  • Improved access to domestic violence leave
  • Addition of bereavement leave for stillbirth
  • Other improvements, including for NR Group members working in sea trials and those working at Corrections Canada

Please review the attached documents:

A “Yes” vote means: You are accepting all of the changes proposed in the tentative agreement. Those changes will take place at the date of the signing (except as otherwise noted) and the employer will implement them, including any retro pay, within 180 days after the signature of this agreement (up to 460 days for manual processing).

A “No” vote means: You reject the tentative agreement and instruct the NR Group Bargaining Team to pursue further negotiations, with a high likelihood of heading to arbitration.

The NR Group Bargaining Team believes we accomplished the best deal possible in what was a difficult round of negotiations.
