Dear Members:
On June 2, 2018, the Treasury Board published the new definition of the Information Technology (IT) Occupational Group, replacing the current definition of the Computer Systems (CS) Group, in the Canada Gazette.
There will be no immediate impact on CS Group employees. Employees will soon receive a notice from the departments and an information package with questions and answers.
The Treasury Board Secretariat (TBS) and PIPSC signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the review and design of the structure of the occupational groups and classification reform (Appendix F of the collective agreement). The employer then set up a Working Group to update the generic work descriptions. The Working Group also discussed the establishment of new work segments and added some new ones, such as cyber security. We do not know exactly when the positions related to the new standard will be evaluated. The date is to be determined by the Chief Human Resources Officer.
The effective date of the new job evaluation standards and position qualification will be determined following the next round of collective bargaining.
Thank you!
Pierre A. Touchette
Vice-President, CS Group
