Important Notice to All VM Members Regarding Management Guideline (MG-2016-001) concerning Veterinary Presence and Supervisory Oversight in Slaughter Establishments

Dear Members,
The PIPSC-VM Executive Committee wishes to address the distribution of the Management Guideline (MG-2016-001) concerning Veterinary Presence and Supervisory Oversight in Slaughter Establishments. This management guideline was surprisingly distributed via CFIA notification email on 2023/11/22.
Please be aware that:
- PIPSC was not consulted regarding the changes and implementation of these guidelines.
- There was no advance notice provided to PIPSC about this development.
- PIPSC had previously expressed objections to similar guidelines introduced in 2017.
- The PIPSC VM Executive is actively arranging urgent meetings with management to discuss and resolve these concerns.
This matter is of the utmost importance, and we are treating it with the seriousness it demands. We are determined to ensure that the rights and voices of our members are not just heard, but also acted upon with the highest priority.
