As you may know, the CFIA-VM Bargaining Team has not yet started negotiating a new collective agreement.
On September 28, 2018, we sent the notice to bargain to the employer. Following the notice, we surveyed members like you about your bargaining priorities.
With the 2019 federal election around the corner, the timeline to bargain with the employer was short. We did not feel that there was enough time to engage in targeted and intense negotiations with the employer before the election.
You have seen the gains that the PIPSC Central Bargaining Team has won for many PIPSC members. As we move forward to get the best possible deal for VM, your bargaining team, we will do everything in our power to include those gains in our next collective agreement.
We put the CFIA on notice — if they try to offer less than what has already been agreed at the central table, it will only increase our determination.
