As you may know, the CFIA-S&A Bargaining Team has not yet started negotiating a new collective agreement.
On June 28, 2019, we sent the notice to bargain with the employer. That same day that we signed the 2014-2018 S&A Collective Agreement. The long delayed 2014-2018 negotiations have negatively impacted our ability to engage in any new negotiations. This comes as no surprise, the CFIA is known for its inaction regarding negotiations.
You have seen the gains that the PIPSC Central Bargaining Team has won for many PIPSC members. As we move forward to get the best possible deal for the S&A, we will do everything in our power to include those gains in our next collective agreement.
We put the CFIA on notice — if they try to offer less than what has already been agreed at the central table, it will only increase our determination.
With a federal election just months away, we will not be getting a deal with the current government.
