From the President …

I’ve never been prouder to be an AFS member and our group president than I have been since the COVID-19 pandemic began.  From day one, our AFS members stepped up to support the provision of benefits to Canadians at a time of dire need.  Our AFS stewards and AFS National Executive have been in constant contact with Management to bring forward your concerns.  As we move forward through the crisis, you can be assured that our union will continue to work on your behalf.  Don’t hesitate to contact a local steward or member of our AFS Executive if you have any question or concerns.

As I’m writing this, Canada Day is approaching and this is an appropriate time to celebrate our great nation and to think about how we can make it a better place for all.  In spite of all our achievements, we have a legacy of systemic racism that we must address.  We can all do better and this is an important opportunity to make real change.  Please support anti-racism campaigns including initiatives against Anti-Black racism and anti-Indigenous racism.  The AFS Executive stands with the Black and Indigenous communities at this crossroads in time.  We are better together.

Be safe and take some time to rest and enjoy the summer.

Doug Mason,

AFS President
