Please join the Applied Science and Patent Examination (SP) Group for a “Steps for Science” event starting at 12 noon at the Delta Hotel, St. John’s, October 2, 2026.

On October 2, from 12 noon to 1 pm, more than 50 scientists from the SP Group will walk the streets of downtown St. John’s (approximately 2 kms) in the lab coats to draw attention to the growing challenges facing Canada’s federal scientific workers. This march is about more than working conditions – it is about drawing attention to Canada’s diminishing scientific capacity. 

We are inviting our fellow PIPSC members as well as other labour organizations and their members to join us in standing up for public science. The more organizations and workers that stand with us, the stronger our message will be.
