Positions up for Election in 2026
The Engineering, Architecture and Land Survey (NR) Group executive is seeking nominations for the following positions:
– One Atlantic Representative – 2-year term
– One Quebec Representative – 2-year term
– One BC/Yukon Representative – 2-year term
– Four NCR Representatives – 2-year term
Roles and Responsibilities of an Executive Committee Member
In your role as an elected official, will help:
– further the professional interests of the members;
– protect the status and standards of our profession;
– represent the views of the members on matters affecting them; and
– ensure that the interests of the Group are represented in all proceedings of the employer and of the union.
Elected officials will be required to:
– assume Officer portfolios;
– attend Sub-group Annual General Meetings (AGM) in their region;
– attend the NR Group and PIPSC AGMs, as well as the Sub-group President’s Meeting; and
– meet approximately 6 times per year, in person or via Zoom (meetings may take place on weekdays, weekends, and evenings).
Experience:
The NR Group is looking for candidates that have significant previous union experience and a good working knowledge of the NR Collective Agreement and PIPSC. These are volunteer positions requiring a commitment to perform duties both at times during and outside of your normal public service work hours.
ELECTION PROCEDURE
The nomination and election process is governed by Group bylaws, Articles 9.1 to 9.3.6.
Here is a summary the criteria required:
– Nominations must be supported by at least five NR members in the candidate’s region
– Candidates are to submit their bios in both official languages.
What’s New in PIPSC Election System!
The PIPSC election system has been expanded to include the Call for Nominations portion of a Group’s election process. Please review the user guides for details on how to submit your candidacy and/or support a candidate.
Candidates and their supporters will have to log into their accounts in the PIPSC election system and submit their candidacy and/or support a candidate. Please disconnect from the government’s VPN and use a personal device to access the PIPSC election system.
The Group’s Election Committee will review all candidacy submissions. Once the submission is accepted, the candidates will receive an email letting them know their submission is accepted or if changes are needed.
At the end of the nomination period, the Group’s Election Committee will review all the candidate submission and approve them to be added to the election ballot in the PIPSC Election System.
Instructions for Candidates
Log into the Election System and complete the online nomination form.
You can use your profile bio or create a customized bio for this election. Please ensure that your bio is posted in both official languages before the nomination deadline to avoid any delays in the voting process. The word limit is 250 words in English and 300 words in French. If you need help to get your bio translated, please email Elizabeth Morin, Administrative Coordinator for the NR Group, at emorin@pipsc.ca.
IMPORTANT: Biographies will not be proofread, and corrections will not be made except when requested by the NR Elections Committee. Candidates can include why they want to be on the executive and any priorities the executive should address.
Once you have submitted your candidacy, it will be reviewed by the NR Election Committee, who will either accept or request changes from the candidate. Once it is accepted, candidates can ask NR members to support their candidacy by logging into the Election System and going into the NR 2026 Election.
Instructions for Members Supporting a Candidate
Once a candidate’s submission has been accepted, the candidates can ask for supporters to validate his candidacy. Members can log into their PIPSC Election System account, go into the NR 2026 Election and support the candidate of their choice.
